“The Television Show for College Bound Students”  

Nationally, EBC Inc. produces Excellence By Choice: “The Television Show for College Bound Students”.  Launched in 1992, the series is produced in Washington, DC, and airs on educational and community access stations in several U. S. cities, including Durham, NC.  Hosted by high school students, the highly acclaimed telecast is the first and only program of its kind in the country.  EBC Inc. television series and career development programs expose children, youth and adults to higher education and career opportunities.

Since its inception, over 400 episodes have been produced and aired, impacting thousands of viewers of all ages.  In excess of nine hundred guests have appeared on EBC Inc. broadcast.  Over one hundred colleges have been featured on the show, along with over three hundred high achievers profiled on the series.  The show has provided more than one thousand sources of scholarship opportunities for viewers. 

EBC proudly maintains a 100% success rate of student participants completing the program who are now enrolled in college, with scholarships or have graduated from college.  Other direct benefits include, academic and/or community service credit for students participating on the program.  Seniors receive computers to take to college upon graduation.  And, paid summer internships at professional worksites are available to all participants.  Many of these work experiences are “first in the nation” job opportunities and few youth involved in the “Opportunities” program had previous work experience.
